Job Description
Directs and leads the Human Resources function for Japan as an HR Business Partner who will work closely with different business units in order to enable them to meet their goals through effectively driving and implementing global and local HR programs/processes.
- Effectively lead and manage HR responsibilities including compensation and benefits administration, employee performance management, employee relations, people development, recruitment & retention, change management and people management.
- Partner with business leaders to understand strategy, plans and challenges for their business units. Utilize knowledge of market conditions as it relates to our customers, consumers, competitive brands, and talent (internal and external) in order to advise them on human resources matters. Attend business reviews, strategy meetings and participate in field visits.
- Implement Company?s human resource strategy in order to attract, develop and retain top talent to achieve current and future business objectives.
- Provide advice to management and staff on interpretation and application of corporate policies to ensure equitable and consistent application across different business units. Lead/manage any labor disputes according to local law and company practice and policy. Conduct any necessary investigations.
- Partner with the Global Talent Acquisition team and hiring managers to ensure an effective recruitment and selection process is in place to attract top talent for the organization. Partner with hiring managers to understand and implement workforce plans to best achieve business goals.
- Partner with business leaders to identify their team?s strengths and development needs; develop plans accordingly to support these needs. Partner with the Regional L&D team as needed.
- Lead Org Review processes for assigned employee populations. Provide support to Regional VP of HR during Org Review process to ensure performance management, development planning and succession planning activities are completed accurately for the region. Assist in creating final documents for corporate presentations.
- Ensure HR procedures and practices are in compliance with local laws and company practices by keeping abreast of changing business needs and latest legislative development.
- Facilitate and roll out regional/ global HR initiatives such as GPDGT, Functional Excellence Initiatives, EEG, SAP HCM, and other programs as needed.
- Manage HR team members to meet the needs of the business. Set clear expectations, meeting operating rhythm and development plans. Provide feedback and coaching, conduct performance reviews and merit recommendations accordingly.
- Complete monthly management reports to provide analysis of health of the organization from an HR perspective such as: headcount, turnover, safety and health, current recruitment, bench strength, diversity and potential risks to the business.
- Facilitate Performance Appraisal System and work closely with regional team to implement the incentive system to comply with the Company's strategy.
- Partner with Total Rewards to understand internal compensation and benefits plans.?? Apply these philosophies to ensure equity within the company as well as understand competitive practices in the market.
- Work with L&D and people managers to analyze and create development plans that meet both business personal employee needs.
- Facilitate the employee engagement to help continue to build a positive culture in the across all facilities in Japan.
Required Skills
- Bachelor?s degree in Human Resources Management/ Business Management or related discipline with 15+ years human resources management experience required. Master degree/MBA preferred.
- Experienced Human Resources manager with depth in all areas of human resources including compensation & benefits, labor laws and practices, business partnership, employee relations, performance management, recruitment and retention as well as change management and people management.
- Well-versed in Japan labor laws and their practices
- High integrity and trust
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, independent and be able to work under pressure
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Japanese is essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office and Japanese word processing
